ANNUAL CITY TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1.       All Entries to this tournament must be made in accordance with United States Bowling Congress Rules.

 

2.       Any member of the Rhode Island USBC may enter and participate. Any resident of Rhode Island or person who bowls in Rhode Island who is not a member of the USBC may become affiliated by payment of an unattached membership fee of $18.00. Nonmembers living outside the jurisdiction of this association but are members of another association may enter by paying an unattached membership fee of $8.00.

 

3.       There will not be separate entries into the Doubles and singles Events. Doubles/Singles will be considered one event. To enter either, you must enter both.

 

4.       Team Captains may substitute a bowler for one originally entered in accordance with USBC Rule 304. Replacements in Doubles/Singles events shall be in accordance with Rule 304.

 

5.       Multiple participation in Team, Doubles/Singles events shall be in accordance with USBC Rule 364.

a.                    Four person team event: Not more than two players on the same team can place more than once in the prize list for position standings.

b.                    Two person team event: In no case shall the same two-person team be permitted to place more than once in the prize list for position standings.

c.                    Individual event: In no case shall the same individual be permitted to place more than once in the prize list for position standings.

d.                    When a bowler competes more than once, his or her first appearance in each event shall count towards his or her All-Events score.

 

6.       All contestants should be prepared to establish proof of membership and also proof of average.

 

7.       The tournament shall be conducted on an individual handicap basis with 100% of the difference between a bowler’s average and 230.    Those bowlers without a current sanctioned book average shall use their current highest sanctioned average for at least 21 games.  All others shall bowl scratch.

 

8.       It shall be each bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of his or her average, whether originally submitted by the bowler, his or her team captain or others.  Failure to use the proper average or to make a correction prior to completion of first game shall disqualify score if submitted average is lower than actual average of prize winning shall be base on the submitted average if it is higher.

 

9.        In the event of ties for first place, Co-champions will be declared.  Prize money shall be equally divided among all positions tied.

 

10.    No entry money will be refunded if it is discovered that a team or individual has not complied with all rules and eligibility requirements of the USBC and this tournament. Bad checks will cause the team to be disqualified. The person issuing the check will be held responsible for the check and subjected to possible suspension according to USBC rules. A cost of bank fees PLUS  a $10.00 association fee and costs of collection will be added for processing by the association.

 

11.    No pacers permitted.  Only those entered or qualified substitutes may bowl.

 

12.    In case of protests or inquiry, contact the tournament director, who has supreme power and is authorized to decide upon matters pertaining to the operation of this tournament when not inconsistent with tournament rules or provision of the USBC rules (USBC Rule 303).  Protests must be reported in writing prior to the awarding of prize money or games will stand as bowled.

 

13.    USBC Championship Chevrons and Association Awards will be awarded to each individual champion in Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events (Scratch & Handicap).  Championship shirts to winners in all categories.

 

14.    Cash awards will be mailed within 30 days after the completion of the tournament.

 

15.    Tardy players will start in frame being bowled with zero being given for the missed frames.

 

16.    To certify scores, each Team Captain shall sign game  report upon completion of event.

 

17.    The all-Events championship award and chevron will be awarded to the player scoring high total (scratch & handicap) for the nine games in All-events, regardless of whether or not he has entered the all-Events cash awards.  Only those who pay the fee qualify for cash prizes in the all-Events event.

 

18.    Team Captains shall report one-half hour before squad bowls.  All lanes will be assigned.

 

19.    All entries are automatically entered in both scratch & handicap divisions.

 

20.    It will not be required to report prize winnings from other tournaments.

 

21.    Prize money will be distributed 60% to handicap winners and 40% to scratch winner.

 

22.    All prizes will be returned 100% on a ratio of 1in 7 in Teams, Singles and Doubles events.  All-Events ratio is 1in 10. All bowlers automatically entered in, both handicap and scratch divisions.  If a bowler places in both handicap and scratch divisions, he or she will receive only the prize with the highest monetary value.

 

23.    All contestants shall submit themselves to the tournament director for re-rating if required to do so as outlined in USBC Rule No. 27

 

24.    If you bowl in All-Events, you must pay before your first squad of bowling, be it Teams Singles or Doubles, in order to quality.
